August has been a fun month with a lot of activities, as much work and hardly any posts.
For starters, Kyle and I did some 4 wheeling in the Mark Twain Forest. Since it was my first time, I suppose that all things had to go wrong in order to get a good look at what it was like. There were incredible hills, gulleys and views to be had before (and after) which we broke the driveshaft to the rear wheels.
Front wheel drive only required full concentration and a winch to get out.

All of this was followed by a “few” visits to the Local Office pub and Steakhouse where Thursday night pool tournaments were in the heart of the action. Some incredible folks there!

As luck would have it, two days later the Office Pub burned to the ground. That now leaves Eureka Springs as the nearest place to eat or drink.
I understand the Piersons will construct a new facility and expect that it may be even better than the first!
Good Luck Friends!

This is my first time away from home and my twin sister.
A July this busy isn’t exactly what I thought it would be because I had forgotten exactly how much attention a five year old might take.
A beautiful child with a wonderful disposition has made us the best of pals this month, and I will sure hate to see him go back to Iowa and start school.
Guess there is only one more week left until I loose my helper.

Land of the Free Icon
Enjoy this Independence Day !
Brenda and I like many others will be staying nearby this year to enjoy a nephews wedding this afternoon and a Family Reunion over the week end. Lots to do but hoping that there will be relief in the rain.

Finally the waters have receded enough here in Golden, MO to re-open the main road in. Surprising how you can miss a normal shortcut.

During my drive home from Golden, Missouri to Holiday Island, AR, I tried taking a couple of photos on the move. It didn’t work too badly but with all of the curves in the road my timing was challenged.

Near the house and to the left of the Flag Pole is new growth on our Bamboo here in Arkansas. Deer and other varmints don’t seem to like it well, so that could be a reason for it thriving. The age of the shoots are about three weeks of growth in this photo.
Originally, we started with two and a half years ago with five small plants.

There are many times in the big cities that you have to stop for something, even when you are in a hurry. Around here it doesn’t seem so bad. Probably because there are no stop lights, just interesting activies such as these.

This is such a beautiful time of year even with the rain. Four years ago, and perhaps longer we planted a fair variety of flowers to enhance our landscape. True it’s mostly limestone, but it does add to the grass that is there.

It is always great to be home! Brenda and I had a wonderful visit with Misty, Michael and the kids. Clyde our Dog had a great time too.
I was able to capture a couple of photos from the trip as shown here:

The roads are very nice to Clarion, IA. Something we will have to do again soon.

Sister Mary Beth discovers a very affectionate dog. (above)

CD Charms two of the Five Kids here.
Nice trip to Clarion, Iowa happening this week. Although the weather is much colder here than at home, it was an interesting trip seeing exactly how deeply the flooding crisis has affected so many areas of the State.
Between Gasoline Prices on the rise and water following a close second, internet work may be the most affordable alternative for now.
